Channel 8's private screening

Channel 8's Private Screening- C.L.I.F

Always, i've been an avid fan of Channel 8's drama shows since young and would never fail to catch the drama promptly at 9pm every weekday. Currently on air is this "The In-Laws(麻婆斗妇)" with my favourite star-Rui en, starring in the show. As most should have known by now, there's also this upcoming star-studded drama titled "C.L.I.F(警徽天职)" right after the end of 麻婆斗妇. Judging from the advertisements, you know that this is definitely a MUST watch show 'for alone the short trailers aired on tv are simply thrilling and exciting.

Once again, i'm so honoured to be able to receive this exclusive invite, this time round from Channel 8 to attend the private screening of C.L.I.F last Friday. Having this rare opportunity to watch the highly anticipated drama show ahead of others is really cool and i'm thankful to Channel 8 for selecting me as one of their 20 bloggers to cover this exciting event. As you know that i'm someone who is interested in this kind of police investigative thriller show, you can imagine my excitement for the whole of that week, anticipating the arrival of friday's event then.

The event was held at Sinema Old School.
For this private screening, i was able to bring along a friend and sok was my companion for the day. Sinema Old School is located somewhere at a hilltop and huff and puff we made our way up this really long stretch of staircase before reaching our destination. The crowd was there way before us. Mainly the fan clubs and few other bloggers. well, but we're not late! haha.
Photobucket
The theatre is located at Level 2 and we were barred from entry till about 7.30pm when it is nearing the event's commencement time. Meanwhile, we proceeded into an air-conditioned shop whereby we get to exchange our coupons for popcorns and drinks. The whole atmosphere feels as though we're going into the cinema to catch a movie minutes later...

Bloggers had the priviledges to take the first two row seats whereas those fan clubs took the seats behind us. It was definitely a good view from my center seat! Some of the fanclubs as seen from the below photos: Rebecca's, Joanne's, Elvin's...etc. That's not all. There are more to it.

The drinks and gourmet popcorns we got from the shop. Thanks for the munchies! Good combination to go along with a theatre show.

And now, a shot of me with my gourmet popcorns:)

The event commenced at about 8pm. First on stage is definitely the host before the introduction of casts. And we have got Ben Yeo as our host for the day! He's a funny chap! we were entertained by him before the main casts of the show entered. Ben took a quick look around the entire theatre and he noticed the different fan clubs coming to support their respective idols. Just then, Elvinology exclaimed: “我们要黄俊雄!” Ben replied saying that “不要以为黄俊雄没有来,等一下你们就不尖叫!我注意你们很久了!”(Haha). He also mentioned if they want Elvin Ng, he can be seen in the show later! LOL.

Soon, we welcomed the arrival of the main casts with applause. First entered was Tay Ping Hui, followed by Joanne Peh, Chris Tong, Aileen Tan, Rayson Tan and then Romeo Tan. The artistes line-up for the day! A pity Elvin was not there. i would love to see him in person.
Photobucket
The casts introduced themselves and a general description of the the show. There were some humourous contents in between. Such like Aileen Tan who mentioned that we have to support this show of theirs, a little support will do if not they "没得捞" (Haha). If i'm not wrong, Rayson Tan also mentioned "Power Rangers" who referred to the team, they as the police investigative officers in the show. It was entertaining throughout this short casts introduction session. Afterwhich, the celebrities proceeded to the back row along with the host, took their seats and all ready to watch this 45minutes' first episode (minus the commercial breaks) with the audience.

C.L.I.F. stands for "Courage", "Loyalty", "Integrity" and "Fairness", which are the core values of the Singapore Police Force. It is a collaboration with the Singapore Police Force that aims to create a drama of unprecedented realism which helps viewers understand how police officers operate in their workforce. Judging from the advertisements and poster boards, the trailers and the photos are simply thrilling and realistic that you ought not to miss it! The first episode started out in Thailand and it was about riots. Scenes of riots that occurred first in Thailand, then in Singapore. Explosive bombs, fights, tactical assault vehicles(shiny red trucks)...were featured. How real can all these be! Just so convincing!

Apart from that, we have to give credits to our dear artistes for their remarkable acting skills. I believed that they had put in a lot of efforts, undergone tough trainings in the police unit in order to portray their individual roles well. This filmed drama wouldn't be a successful one without a good script, sound effects and animations, most importantly, marvellous acting skills from our celebrities. For a moment, I feel as though the main casts who appeared in the first episode of the show are REAL police investigative officers in reality. That's how good they can be! Everything is so real and convincing!

Anyway, Elvin is a funny one when he appeared in episode one and he took on a different character this time round. Well, but no doubt he's a policeman himself in the show. I'm not going to reveal the entire thing here. You shall watch to find out for yourself!

Don't miss this show, seriously!

No videos and photography were allowed during the show. Nevertheless, you can still watch the opening and the different trailer segments below.

After the 45minutes' show, the celebrities were invited back on stage, this time round to our priviledges, for we get to capture photos of them for the next few minutes. Everyone including me was busy snapping away. Check out my snapshots below.

Joanne posed for me. How nice of her!:)

That's not the end to it. Apart from watching the first episode, there's also a Q & A session right after that whereby 8 lucky winners will get to walk away with some goodies. My friend and I were really fortunate to be one of the lucky winners. The host, Ben Yeo asked both of us these questions respectively. "What does C.L.I.F stands for?" & "At the riot scene in Thailand, what did Ping Hui say before he deployed the baton?". Mine was the harder one. When the question was first being asked, it stumped the whole audience. No one could really answer it except Tay Ping Hui himself as that's one of his lines in the script. The host was kind enough to say out the answer once, then he picked someone to recite the answer after him. I decided to give it a go and in the end i got it! Woots! Thank you Ben Yeo:)

Goodies brought back.

Love this C.L.I.F diary book. It seems like a limited edition!
Photobucket
Interesting huh?! This turns out to be a USB mouse. So useful!

After the entire thing, we could also take photos with the celebrities. A pity some of them were blurred and i missed the chance to take photos individually with Joanne Peh and Tay Ping Hui.(Though in the past, i did take once with both of them... that was like ages ago, lol.)

More photos below. Happy browsing:D

I Channel 8!

Having grown up watching Channel 8 shows, I've developed a liking for Channel 8 drama shows ever since young. My buttock would be glue-sticked to the sofa right in front of my television, without leaving my sights off the drama shows airing at 9pm every weekday night. That's my favourite segment of Channel 8. As we all know that there's always repeated shows airing at 5.30pm during the weekdays' evening, I would never fail to catch them again despite having watched once. I would say i'm an avid fan of Channel 8 right from the start. The different genres like "family loving kinship", "romance", "detectives & mystery case solving"...etc interest me 'for they are always entertaining and of high climax in those of my favourite dramas. You wouldn't want to miss any episode of it! Fortunately, we've got xinmsn online now, even if missed, we still get to catch yesterday's episode online.

Over the years, there's a huge leap of improvements in Channel 8's drama shows with better scripts and most importantly, good acting skills by the actors/actresses who portrayed the roles/characters well. Below are some of my favourite Channel 8's shows with stars like "Rui en", "Jeanette Aw", "Joanne Peh", "Elvin Ng", "Dai Yang Tian" taking the main leads in the respective shows.

Photobucket

Be it with families or friends, we would always love to discuss the respective role(s) played by the actors/actresses in the show as well as making predictions of what will happen in the next episode. In particular to this, I've a special liking for detectives, mystery case solving genre kind of show as i'm someone who is more into thrill. It is always exciting to catch the next episode, to find out who is the next killer or victim. There's always a great sense of satisfaction knowing that the detectives in the show managed to crack/solve the mystery. How cool can they be, seriously! So real life and convincing despite only a show.

Recently, I've heard of this upcoming Channel 8's show- 警微天职(C.L.I.F). I swear I will love this show 'for it's on one of my favourite genres, police investigative thriller.

Photobucket

With that, i do hope that I'll be given the opportunity to attend this private screening of the highly anticipated drama 警微天职(C.L.I.F) ahead of others. Just trying my luck here. Hope that I'll be one of the lucky shortlisted bloggers chosen by Channel 8. Thank you:D

Channel U's Ladies Night Cooking Workshop

Are you an avid fan of Channel U? Have you heard of this recent show on air titled "Ladies Night(女人聚乐部)"? Ladies' Nite is an all-new ladies’ magazine program. Hosted by both Michelle Chong and Vivian Lai, this program is broken down into 3 main segments: Cooking, Trends and Wellness. I was pretty honoured to be invited to cover this Channel U's event last Saturday. The entire event was a cooking workshop and shortlisted bloggers were able to bring along three friends to the event. We had the opportunities to learn how to cook from the two pretty celebrity hosts and on top of that enjoy an intimate high tea session with them. How wonderful could that be! I was on cloud nine then upon receiving the invitation from upromo.

The cooking workshop was held at Cookyn Inc, somewhere around Queenstown.
Photobucket
We arrived slightly ahead of some of the bloggers and so, started to take photos with the event signboard just outside the Cookyn Inc Block O before the workshop commences.

Photobucket
The celebrity hosts, Michelle Chong and Vivian Lai arrived at 2pm and the cooking workshop commenced thereafter. Before the cooking OFFICIALLY started, the hosts were mingling around with the bloggers and friends. They asked whether we've watched "Ladies Night" and also which other celebrities would we like to see in the cooking segment of the show. As we all know that male stars like "Dai Yang Tian", "Elvin Ng" etc are currently on high popularity, their names were mentioned. I was the one who mentioned "黄俊雄(Elvin Ng)" and straight after that, a little secret is let out of the bag from Michelle. We came to realize that Elvin can't cook!

Well, 厨房是女人的天下嘛! 会煮菜的女人是很有魅力的! We shall now check out how the two celebrity hosts teach us the two respective dishes during the workshop.
Photobucket
Before that, let's have a shot of Michelle and Vivien! We're all ready to learn from them!

Michelle started out first as the preparation for her dish is much longer than Vivian's one. She taught us how to go about making this "Steam-Baked Fish Roll".
Photobucket
Firstly, she chop the onions, garlic and mushrooms into smaller pieces. Soon after that, the next step is to heat some oil in a fry pan and saute the onions, garlic and mushrooms. (The pan took some time to turn hot as the whole cooking place is air-conditioned.) Following next is to make the roll. Michelle first laid out cabbage at the bottom, add the ham and then the mushrooms. Before putting in the dory fish, she actually wiped the dory fish with paper serviettes to dry it. On top of that, you can only add some corriander leaves to enhance the taste.

And NOW the fun part, Michelle gonna' start to ROLL it. I feel that the rolling part is a challenge because if it's not rolled properly, the whole fillings inside will come out and the dish won't turn out nice. This requires some skills, huh?
(Note: It is also important to roll them as tightly as you can.)

Soon after the successful roll, Michelle placed the whole roll inside the aluminium tray and added in ginger, wine, water and chicken powder to further enhance the taste. Up till this step, the preparation is near to completion and it's time to bake this healthy dish in oven after covering the lid with foil. (Note: Keep the shiny side of aluminium foil down.)

Till this step of demonstration, we proceeded back to our own table to start preparing the dish. Before our dish preparation, let's have a shot!
Photobucket
It's HANDS ON TIME! The Bloggers and friends' turn to prepare the first dish!
Photobucket
In the midst of our preparations, the hosts also went around to see how we were coping with the first dish. Michelle kindly offered us another mushroom when she saw that ours was insufficient.

(p.s. i wasn't able to capture any photos during our cooking process as we were all busy preparing the dishes and you know, our hands were all uncleaned. Credits to Channel U for some of the photos taken during our dish preparation.)
Meanwhile waiting for the fish roll to be baked for 20-30 minutes' after we're done with its preparation, we proceeded on to learn the second dish from Vivian, known as "Cold Rice Salad with Prawns". Check out Vivian's cooking process below.
Photobucket
Firstly, Vivian cut the french beans, tomatoes into smaller cubes as well. She told us to remove the seed areas inside the tomatoes as the water will actually cause the rice to be wet. This cold rice salad with prawns is easily prepared as one will just have to mix the rice, prawns, diced french beans and tomatoes, corns, olive oil, corriander and even squeezed orange juice together, simply just stir to combine all these mixed ingredients. As easy as that! On top of that, you can also add salt and pepper to enhance the taste. Vivian mentioned that the sweetness from the orange when squeezed out into orange juice will enhance the cold rice salad's taste by giving it a slight sweet taste.
Lastly, is to chill the whole rice salad in fridge. This whole cold rice salad will appeal to young children 'for the appearance is colourful. This is yet another healthy dish.

Same thing after her demonstration, we're back to our respective tables to prepare the second dish. Cooking is seriously fun. Assisting is one thing, but being one of the main "cooking chefs" is really fun. On top of that, having the opportunity to learn how to cook from the two celebrity hosts is an interesting one.
Photobucket
NOOO! i didn't finish the whole bowl! haha.
Photobucket
Friends, look here! SMILE:D

I guess at this point of time, you guys must be excited to see how both our final dishes turn out to be. Before that, let's check out Michelle Chong's and Vivian Lai's one!
Check out Michelle's masterpiece.

Photobucket
Now, check out Vivian's masterpiece.
Photobucket
*Applause* to both the hosts' masterpiece. Nice right?:)
Check out ours now!
Photobucket
Not bad also right?! tsktsk. Drooling at the sight of it?
(Others thought ours looks more like a piping hot fried rice dish, but in fact, that's a cold rice salad served! Does it appeal to you?:D)

On top of that, there was actually a competition among the different groups. We're supposed to decorate our dishes and even come up with our own names for them. Coloured papers, pencils, crayons were provided for us to design on the papers.
Photobucket
i drew out this design and sok thought of a unique dish name. Meanwhile, deb was helping to snap the process of us designing our final piece.
Photobucket
Presenting to you, our final piece -翡翠鱼卷
Photobucket
Photo is DEFINITELY a must take!
Photobucket
This was our final presentation!
And GUESS what? Our group emerged as the top winner of the competition and we were awarded with Fann Wong's designed tee. Saturated with happiness. All smiles.
Congratulations to our team!:D

Apart from this competition, there was also a "Q & A" session whereby 5 lucky winners will walk away with some prizes. To top if off, my friend and i were the two winners out of the five. We were asked questions like "Who are the two celebrity hosts in this ladies night show?" and "How many segments are there in this show?" (we did our homework hor! Lol.)

Refreshments were also served and we had an intimate high tea session with the two celebrity hosts. How wonderful it is to not only learn cooking tips from the hosts, but also to indulge in nice pastries specially prepared by the chef!
Photobucket
After the refreshments, there was a video interview going around and the two celebrity hosts went from tables to tables to interview some of the people. i was interviewed but not too sure whether it will be aired on tv, lol. Our big group was also asked to say out a slogan along with Michelle and Vivian!
